Hexagon Glitters make my heart smile (Julie)

I do love my Barry M Indigo swatch, but I just get bored so fast! I thought, now that I have the perfect indigo shade, I can bling it up with my Hard Candy glitter polish in Break Up. I love this stuff! It applies plentiful in one swipe, and also has small silver glitter which adds to the beauty...it really is a gorgeous swatch.

Mail Day From the UK! And CLEARANCE Time At Ulta - What a Haul!

Today is a fantastic day in my little world of lacquer. Woke up this morning feeling totally confident that I would find Barielle's "Elle's Spell" at Ulta, so I drove my tush 25 minutes out on the island to pick through their stock and find a bottle.

No such luck. No Elle's Spell. But ...there's a big fat but here...I managed to arrive the very day that they put out all the clearance items and I just about went nuts! Barielles for $1.99, Ulta brand for $0.49, Piggy Polish for $0.99, and Chi for $0.99. I bought a bunch of swatches after spending a good half-hour picking through the new sale items.
*swatch names coming soon*

Then I arrived home, tried a few swatches out, even attempted a very BAD reverse french manicure which I have to show for pure comic relief---

Just ran downstairs to check the mail about 15 mins ago, and to my surprise, my Barry M order showed up, all the way from the UK. Thanks Barry M :) These swatches are divine! The grey/purple is called Dusky Mauve, and is a dupe for the Chanel swatch everyone is nuts over. I also got Indigo, and Pink Iridescent.

I can't wait to swatch all these! I will get to that tonight or tomorrow. For now, just enjoy some unveiling shots, and have a great night!

Here is Indigo - the only one I've swatched so far. It is a much more purple blue than it shows in the photos.

Not Exactly Getting the Beiber Fever, New Color Club, Nicole Holiday Set

I saw it....I had to have it. Step 2 the Beat of My Heart....this superbly beautiful glittery swatch with giant hearts - so girly! So wonderful! So pretty! So...NOT! This is my first Nicole/opi and I have to say, for the price I paid, I'd rather have bought 2 Color Clubs...
this swatch sucks. Why put all these fabulous chunky hearts in a bottle if it's next to impossible to dig them out?i If they can't attach to the brush and glide on with ease, it's a pointless product. Who the hell wants to sit around and dig out the hearts to tediously apply them to your nails? Who has time for that?? I fished around for a few minutes and lost interest. I applied the swatch to two nails and dug out the hearts, and from all the dabbing and reapplying, the polish barely dried, it was thick, streaky, a complete mess.

It looks much prettier in the bottle.

Moving on.....!

This is an AWESOME color!! Color Club's "With Abandon". I've been trying to no avail to get my hands on a Ciate Paint Pot "Twilight" (swatched beautifully here on fashionpolish) but it's just out of my budget when I do find it on eBay...and impossible to get here in the US. I think this color is just about as close as I'm going to get to it. It's just beautiful! I can't tell if it's a really dark brown or a black color, but the sparkles it's filled with are deep brown and golden, and in some light they can look a bit green. I really recommend this. I picked it up for $3.00.

While out browsing the sale section, I found a Nicole by OPI Tinsel Tips set (3 miniature polishes). It came with 3 colors, and a strip of rhinestones to add to the nails. The one color that stood out to me in the set is called Kiss Me At Midnight. I tried all three - the red glitter swatch (sparkle my mistletoe) was lackluster and I decided not to waste my time with applying it and photographing it. The pink swatch called Stuck In The Chimney was just a little too pink for me. I think it'd look best on somebody with darker skin. It looked terrible on my washed out hands. The real winner in the pack was Kiss Me At Midnight. A deep coppery red that really shimmers with gold in the light. It's a must have, and made the kit worth buying.

Here are just a few photos of Stuck In The Chimney, while it's not my favorite, some might like it.

A little something different...(Erika)

Okay, I havent been pulling my half of this blog(sorry Julie!) but since I was a complete moron and spilled a bottle of np remover on the bathroom floor(of course the rug part..) So im stuck with this streaky pale pink mess of a color. I thought, hey lets make lemonade out of this crap lemon that was handed to me. So lets do a post about something different, make up! (Okay its still beauty but it counts!)

I was recently going through my make up, and I realized that out of all the make up I own (which is way to much) I would list the few that I use. Now Im not going to say these are ones that I cant live without.. because that would be a tad dramatic.. but just a tad;)

1-DiorShow by Christian Dior
This mascara, which I found was a bit insane to spend 24$ on, is amazing. Worth the price. The brush gets your lashes so long, curled and full. Their is a reason this product is a best seller, it deserves it!

2- Sugar Plum by Fresh

I really dont care for lipsticks, I feel a bit overdone when i wear them. I love this product because it gives the look of a stain but it makes your lips feel soft and amazing. The color pay off is great because you can use one coat for just a tint, or layer it on for a stained dramatic look! Also it smells amazing!

3- 24/7 Black eyeliner- ZERO by Urban Decay

Blessed with small eyes (sarcasm here folks) I need to use products to open them up, and this does the job. I line the inside upper waterline and just lightly close my eyes. It is just enough color to open the eyes up, but not make them look smaller( does that make sense?) I actually use different black eyeliners but this one I tend to use the most!

4- Orgasm by NARS
Yes.. yes.. I know that lots of people rave about this blush. But seriously, it's a blush that any skin tone can wear. It has hints of gold, pink and peach blended together, pair it with Copacabana highlighter and it is a perfect combination.
Now I am sure that I have a ton more to add, but I have tons to do today.. like work..blah.

Marriage of Lippmann And China Glaze (Julie)

Hiya :) Happy Sunday. I have some beautiful new-to-me swatches to share, as well as much-improved nails and photos!

First I wanted to try one of my thrift shop finds out - it's called Heart of Africa by China Glaze. It's a beautiful deep shimmery/pearlescent burgundy. Oh, this is my new "prop" lol - it's a crystal paperweight magnifying glass that just so happens to line up my nails very nicely for a great picture! So you can bet this will be making a cameo here and there.

I was a bit bored of this color after a day, so I thought i'd drop a coat of Deborah Lippmann "Red Ruby Slippers" on top and wow...what a beautiful addition. It's such a versatile combination with the shimmery red underneath which really shines through in the light.

a nice photo of how beautiful this color is when the sunlight hits it

And last, I picked up this China Glaze swatch last week for free with my purchase of Seche Vite. It's called Shower Together. It's so pretty and applied so smooth and perfect with 2 coats, and a top coat of Seche.
