I think I did it! Dupe alert!

I have been jonesing for Chanel Peridot nail polish (credit goes to Vampy Varnish for link pic) ever since it came out, but I couldn't justify the high price of it. I saw this post on Nouveau Cheap where they took Sally Hansen's Bronze ablaze and Sinful Colors All about you and you would get a good dupe of Butter London Wallis.

As much as I love the look of Wallis, I wondered if I could dupe Peridot. I took bronze ablaze and topped it off with Wet "n" Wild's "The Gold and the Beautiful"
Bronze Ablaze

The Gold and the Beautiful

And here is the result:

I think I have a good dupe here! I know it's not 100% on the dot, but its good enough for me! And cost about $6 all together. One day I will have my Chanel, one day;) But for now, who ever wants the looks of Peridot for a fraction of the cost, buy these two nail polishes, you will not regret it!
Tata for now!

Dots, Dots, Polka dots everywhere I go!

I don't know if you have been living under a rock, but polka dots are pretty big right now! But if you have they are!  Which inclined me to break out the ole dotting tool and do a look.

The base color I used was so bright that I didn't want to take away from it. The color I am speaking of is a nail polish that Renee got from a recent visit in Saipan (lucky duck!) called "Surfing Paradise" by Island Girl Hawaii. It is a gorgeous creamy purplish pink that goes matte. It's simple gorgeous!

Mind those cuticles!

For the white polka dots I used your basic white nail polish, but the white I used came from a dotting set that Renee bought for me in Japan. Overall a fun manicure and very easy, don't let it fool you, the dotting took about 3 minutes on each hand. When I was finished I used a gel topcoat and then a coat of Seche vite. Nice and glossy! Not a fan of matte nail polish, sorry! But that is it for now!

Ta-ta!

Short one today!

Hey everyone:)

Sorry for the lack of posts, but we will be posting more in the coming weeks, so please forgive us! Here are too looks that I did this week:
This color is gorgeous, but will not photograph for sh*t! Its a beautiful striking blue and green duochrome that came out last year. I really wish it would photograph, but here is a quick link to it. I go bored the next day and added some white stripes and a red glittery heart that is from Color Club design nail polishes. I think it has a nautical feel, what do you think?
And this is a manicure that I did for a weekend outing with Renee that ended up being one of the worse events ever. We'll blog about it on All glitzed up sometime this week, but it was awful! But besides the crap night, I had a fun manicure for the event, I found new funky fingers in Five Below, which is a chain of stores in NY and NJ. It seriously is amazing(but you have to be fast, the good colors go fast!) And of course I topped it off with my new Butter London in Knackered for spring 2012. I am trying to get Renee to buy it, it seriously is the most gorgeous color. But that is it for now, I have some afternoon tasks, tata!

Just playing around

Before I show my current manicure, I have to tell our readers that Renee is going through something extremely personal right now. She will be back soon posting as soon as she can, she would love a few hugs though!

I've been in a polish funk and with my best friend going through something painful it is hard to be creative and colorful, but this morning ( I woke up at 5am!!!) I decided to try something like this:

Of course it looked nothing like it! But hey it was super early, so give me a break, ha ha. But here are the results:
The base black color is Zoya Raven, which is the most opaque black I have ever used! One coat. Done! I will add the other colors, but mostly I used silver, pink glitter detailing polishes and Zoya Keiko. Over all, a fun look, just what I needed! Tata for now!

Canmake Nail Topping Coat

New for Spring 2012! Leave it to the Japanese to create the next biggest thing in nails, nail topcoats that look like ice cream and other desert toppings! I was able to score the last one left on the display (Mixed Berry Seeds) the other day when Yoshi actually found it (how good is he?) but I will be definitely picking up more as they restock.
There are 5 different topcoats, all made with REAL fruit and nuts except for Powdered Sugar. They are: Mixed Berry Seeds, Powdered Sugar, Dried Strawberry, Hawaiian Coconut, and Almond Crunch. I already have a manicure planned, I'm going to make a mint chocolate chip mani (even though mine is berry.. ah well the color is close enough!) Perfect for this season, since mint nail polish is going to be huge!

V-day, two looks. Love and Fun!

Okay, we either like valentines day or hate it. But why can't we just have fun with it? No hard feelings.. I decided to do two looks for vday, one for love and one for fun.

I liked Renee's idea of different looks using the same base color, shows how you can stretch out a bottle of polish if you have a smaller collection. It gave me the idea to do this:

For the love! I used to Fresh paint in Delicious, a gorgeous creme red that screams Valentine's day approved! And for the topcoat I used a super chunky silver glitter from Funky Fingers called Stage Dive. I like to call this one Red hearts and diamond bling (cheesy yes..Do I care.. no!)

Now for the fun, I have had this color from Zoya for a while, called Keiko . It's a creamy gorgeous medium creme purple. For the topcoat I used Luxe effects pure pearlfection by Essie. I love this topcoat! Not as much as fairy dust by China Glaze though, but close;) I just loved how this fun and simple V-day manicure came out, it's still girly but not the expected pink or red.

But that's it for now, I hope everyone had a wonderful chocolate filled Valentine's day! tata!

VDay Manicure part 3, all finished!

Happy Valentine's Day! Finally, this three part manicure is all finished. If you remember, I didn't intend on making a Valentine's mani, and I originally started with Barry M Buzz Nail Paint. I felt it could use a little something, so I then used the curly heart design on my Salon Express SE18 plate with Konad special white polish, and got this effect:

After realizing this had great potential to be a Vday mani, I topped this manicure with Revlon Blizzard Berry, a Japanese Revlon exclusive. It's a pretty mixed size holo glitter with a pink tinted base. Finally, I put pink and clear stones on the thumb and ring fingers, and sealed it off with Seche Vite. What do you all think?
