Wet n Wild- Dancer is the best Reindeer

Hey all!

So sorry about my lack of posts but life and that bitch hurricane Sandy got in my way! I live on staten island so it's a bit of a disaster still over here, luckily the family I work for and me as well got out unscathed( except no hot water and electricity for a few days). We were pretty lucky, but we didn't have net for a bit and my network for my phone was pretty much a message saying Um no try again. They like to call it "searching" But I can not complain, I am alive and have a home.

Any hoo, I feel awful for the lack of posts on this blog, Gotta get it back to everyday status like it was last year! but Ill shut up for now, and post my lastest manicure:
It's an Iphone pic sorry! I didn't have my camera card so I couldn't take an pics! But I got it back yesterday but this manicure looks like some crazy person chewed it off...:shifts and whistles:.
Sorry when I get nervous, I chew my nail polish off. Sexy, I know.

If you are wondering this is one of the new Wet N wilds called Dancer is the best Reindeer and underneath it  is Raven by Zoya. An awesome cream black that is opaque in two coats.

Here is an upclose macro shot of Dancer :

How amazing is that?
Keep it up WnW!

Okay Back to work!

Wet n Wild Shiver 439D

Vintage polish time! I found this polish and a few others in a box of my stuff packed away a looong time ago.

Wet n Wild Shiver 439D by KitaRei
Wet n Wild Shiver 439D, a photo by KitaRei on Flickr.

I'm guessing this is a "newer" vintage bottle, when they added color names on the front of the bottles, not just numbers. I think it was a dupe for vintage Hard Candy Frigid (they were out around the same time. I found out they kept this color through the years, I saw it in several bottles, and they still have it in their Wild Shine line. Beautiful ice blue pearl, one of the "it" colors for polish this season.

After all these years, the application was perfect, not goopy at all. I forget how many coats this is, but I'm thinking 2-3.

I think I did it! Dupe alert!

I have been jonesing for Chanel Peridot nail polish (credit goes to Vampy Varnish for link pic) ever since it came out, but I couldn't justify the high price of it. I saw this post on Nouveau Cheap where they took Sally Hansen's Bronze ablaze and Sinful Colors All about you and you would get a good dupe of Butter London Wallis.

As much as I love the look of Wallis, I wondered if I could dupe Peridot. I took bronze ablaze and topped it off with Wet "n" Wild's "The Gold and the Beautiful"
Bronze Ablaze

The Gold and the Beautiful

And here is the result:

I think I have a good dupe here! I know it's not 100% on the dot, but its good enough for me! And cost about $6 all together. One day I will have my Chanel, one day;) But for now, who ever wants the looks of Peridot for a fraction of the cost, buy these two nail polishes, you will not regret it!
Tata for now!

First 3D manicure- Xmas Snowflakes

Merry Christmas everyone! Here is my first 3D manicure that I've been waiting to post.

The base color is China Glaze Phat Santa, the stripes are Sally Hansen ColorFast Lucky Creme, a vintage Wet N Wild in White Gold, Crayon holographic gold liner, 3D acrylic snowflakes that I made, and topped off with Coffret D'or gel topcoat. Ignore the cracks in the topcoat on one nail. ^^;;

It was really easy to make the snowflakes, much easier than I thought! I just dipped the brush in acrylic liquid, then the acrylic powder, then brushed it in the mold, popped it out after about a minute, and done!

What do you think?
Happy Holidays everyone!

Wet n wild, why you impress me so much?

I just have to say, WnW has been steller with their offerings this past year. From eyeshadows to eyeliners. I have been nothing but impressed with the new products.

Last night, I went food shopping with my boss( if this sounds weird, it aint, I'm a live in nanny) in pathmark( a supermarket chain in the states) and I was kinda of shocked to see that they had put in a huge Wet n Wild display with new products! Including there new Mermaids Cove nail polish collection. I practically sprinted to it like a cat chasing a mouse.

But the one thing that caught my eyes was a color called Waves of enchantment. It was like a shimmery light coral, but with more pink. It has been desribed as a carnation pink with lots of sparkle and shimmer. It is just a gorgeous color, and perfect for the spring/summer months. Overall dry time was pretty fast, I mean it wasn't a minute but I would l clock it around 3 minutes.
Waves of Enchantment- 1.99$
Seriously, how stunning is this shade? I would have to say a good dupe for this color would be Zoya's Rica. Except Rica is more red. Both amazing colors to say the least. But that's it for now, going to watch some gilmore girls on Soapnet and probably fall asleep. Don't judge me.
 Tata for now!

Erika+Pink=It must be Wednesday!

Hey everyone, wow it's weds! How fast is this week flying! I actually did this manicure a few weeks ago when Renee found the onwednesdaywewearpink blog. It is such a great idea, and fun to boot! And another reason to be pink and girly;) ..like I need a reason!

Also Mean girls is a cinematic gem( oh you know you stop everything to watch it when it comes on TBS, also Tina Fey is a god..goddess! Her new book is hilarious!)

Close up for Miss.Jules;)
I wanted something simple (no nail art) but not to blah... Finally after literally...seconds of debate, I reached for Nubar 2010. I swear this bottle is going to be the first ever nail polish since 1994 that I will ever finish. It is just such a great topper for any nail polish color!
My only complaint about this color from WNW is that A) it took while to dry, B) it dried matte( which I guess for a neonish color wasn't a surprise and C) it needed like 4 coats. But hey for 1.99 you cant exactly complain!

But it's already Thursday here in NY, so I should go! Ta ta for now ladies;)

1st mani for On Wednesdays We Wear Pink

I happened across this idea when I was looking at manicures in one of my many flickr groups that I belong to. For more info, please check out http://onwednesdayswewearpink.com/

We are big Mean Girls fans, and why not? This idea is fun!
So here is my first manicure for On Wednesdays We Wear Pink. This one is more simple than some of the manicures I do, and they will be for a while (my fine-tip nail art brush got lost in the move.. I hope I find it!)

I busted out the vintage polish for this one! I really wish Maybelline still made such pretty colors.
I used Pink Sorbet for the main color. I used a vintage pastel Wet 'n' Wild Crystallics pale blue (Erika, does this bring back memories?) for the ring finger, to mix it up a bit, and on top of that and my thumb, I used the multi-sized gold glitter from the Nail Cocktail Champagne kit.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Good morning, and happy St. Patty's Day everyone!
It's been a little crazy where I am, but to escape the stress for a little I was able to do a special manicure for today :)

Sorry the picture is a little big.. I tried to shrink it and failed.. miserably.. but yeah, that is the least of my problems at the moment. Maybe one of my lovely co-bloggers could help me out this time around xoxo (Fixed Renee, xoxo back)
To achieve this look, of course I started with a good base coat. Always use one ladies, as some nail polishes stain nails, and it helps the polish to stay put. As the main color, I used Orly Salon Nails #196, Femme Fatale. It is a pretty, light, pearly green. For the dark green, I used China Glaze #886 Jolly Holly that Julie gave me for Christmas, and the light green is Sally Hansen Color Fast #10 Lucky Creme. I coated the tips with a green glitter, Wet 'n' Wild #455A.
Sorry for being so short of words this time around, but I am under a lot of stress, and the creative juices just aren't flowing today.
Later everyone :)

Wet n Wild..Say what??!

You saw from my last Wet n Wild post that the nail polishes and from what you saw, the colors are amazing! But have you seen the new palettes that they have been releasing?

I managed to find two of the three six pan palettes that were released in Feb, and can I say..WOWSVILLE? And I'm not talking about the diner from Ghost World. The colors are so pigmented and gorgeous!
                              736 Petal Pusher
Don't mind the two colors that were pressed back into their pan, I'm a nanny. Make-up and toddlers, bad equation.
737 Blue had me at hello.

Look at those blues!
Now their is one more palette, called 738 Comfort Zone, which is based on browns and greens. It will be mine, oh yes it will be mine!!!...if I can find it...
By the way these palettes retail for...4.99$
Three new colors, 232C FuchsiaRama, 223C The Gold & The Beautiful, and 228C Teal of Fortune. Teal of Fortune was a gift from an ebay seller from whom I bought the silent treatment palette. It was such a sweet thing, and seriously the nicest thing any ebay seller has ever done. And folks, I have bought quite a few things from ebay (I am not proud of this) The fast dry polishes are 1.99$ each. Amazing.
Look at those flakes!
Seriously, this is an almost 100% dupe for Zoya Charla or OPI catch me in the net. But for a fraction of the cost!

Okay, well considering that I've been up since 3am, (can not sleep..) I am going to try and probably fail at giving this sleep thing another go. Ill be back with some new nail polishes!
Ta-Ta for now,

It's A Party On My Hands

Yeah that was super cheesy. Anyway, I haven't quite been able to bring myself to buy Happy Birthday by Deborah Lippmann because I wasn't sure I'd like it. Then I received Wet & Wild fastdry Party Of Five Glitters last month for V-day. I finally got around to swatching it today (what was that I was saying about taking a few days off from swatching? Right.) over a really interesting color by Sinful Colors. I really love the combo. Very electric and just about as bling-tastic as they can get. The sinful swatch underneath is called Dream On. I'm really disappointed, as I had no idea it was a matte polish, and I really don't like matte polishes. But it shined up really nice with PO5G's and Seche Vite on top. I'm really digging this! Too bad I have nowhere to go with my party fingers. Ewh. That sounds kinda dirty...

Walgreen finds(erika)

Last weekend I took a trip to Walmart with my mom. I was hoping to see if they had any Hard Candy left. Now I am aware of how the walmart is around my grandmother's. Well walmart did shock me when I went into the cosmetics aisle. They had... 2 colors. Sky blue( which i own already) and this horrid yellow. Blech. So I ended up going home with nail polish remover and cotton(whoa, big spender here). Right next to the walmart is a Walgreen's. I went in, and saw a Wet n Wild display. And literally grabbed the last 5 colors they had. In no order in particular:
Buffy the violet slayer, Gray's anatomy, Hannah Pinktana, Party of five glitters, and Blue wants to be a millionaire. I was shocked they had Party of five glitters as It seems to be hard to find from a few bloggers.

Party of five glitters, this one is insane with glitter

Introduction~Erika

Well Im one of the girls from this blog, who as you can tell as a wee bit of an obsession with nail polish... for many many years now. My obsession started somewhere when I was about 13ish... I bought the wet n wild version of sky blue from Hard Candy.. The bottle lasted about 2 weeks. I painted my nails almost every day with the color, toe nails included.
Photo from Imabeautygeek.com
From there it was brands like Brucci, Emerge(remember them?!) and of course Wet n Wild( hey 99¢ for a bottle of nail polish, can't beat that!) After that I moved onto brands like Jane, Revlon, Streetwear, and Loreal.. This was a great way to find out that just because it cost more, doesn't mean its better..(I'm looking at you, Revlon)
For a while I amassed a nice collection of nail polish but due to me being an idiot and not screwing on the caps tight enough, a lot of my beautiful nail polished dried out and were tossed..(where was nail polish renewal drops then?)
After a few years, I took a small sabbatical from nail polish and started another obsession.. make up. But now that it has been a few years, I have recently got back into my nail polish addiction, er collecting.. and here are just a few favorites brands of mine:
Opi by Sephora-

AMAZING colors and the quality is bar none one of the best I have used:

Zoya-
Probably one of my favorite brands-
Seriously.. look at those colors. Are they not complete eye candy?

And with sad regrets, I must add the nail polish that I am not a fan of.. Revlon. I'm sorry to report this ...but Revlon's colors are amazing, but the formula in my opinion is crap. A- it takes forever to dry, even with speed drops and B- when it does finally dry, its peeling by day two. I remember I bought this color called Blackberry by them. Look at this gorgeous red color:
It was even more beautiful in real life, but it also peeled off the entire nail by the next day. Even though I used a base coat and top coat.. so I never used it again and it dried up and got... tossed. But that is a tale for another day, you should be getting a post from Julie very sooon..
Ta ta for now...
