Pa A32 with Pa AA37 blue flakie

First, a shot of Pa A32.
Pa A32
This picture kinda stinks.. mostly because my polish job kinda stunk. It needed another coat to be even (I applied 2) but I was too lazy to wait for it all to dry that day. Dark cream green. Got this one as an extra in a discounted set. A so/so color.. though hubby likes it. I paired it with Pa's AA37 blue flakie (with opaque base) for a nicer look.

I took the clear-fuzzy gradiation pic on purpose to give you an idea of the look of this polish. Pa's A32 with Pa's AA37 blue flakie on top (man I wish they named their colors!) I really thought this would be a great combo, and though the blue does bring out the green, making it very "emerald-y", it just didn't stand out as much as I though it would. I guess it's a combo of the dark color I layered it on top of plus the opaque base the flakie has. I'll try it next over a lighter color and see how it goes :)

However, I did like this combo better than with Nubar 2010 on top, something about the blue flakies just worked better. The warmer tone didn't work as well (at least in my opinion.)

Comparison of Nubar 2010 and Pa AA37 over Pa A32

(blurry on purpose) The bluematches the green much better, but I have to admit the Nubar 2010 stands out so much more! What do you think? :)

An Unlikely Last-Minute Unique Combo!!

I haven't been this excited about swatches in a while, hence my lack of posting lately. Boredom, and a bad manicure @ a salon today, and I was ready for something new. I decided to give one of my new Zoya swatches a shot today - Yara. It's a gorgeous color! A deep olive green with yellow sparkles in it. I love it but I still felt it was just a bit dull. Needs something brighter. I topped it off with a new NYX swatch I received from the Hautelook NYX sale a few weeks ago. It's a flakie polish called Pink Avenue - which isn't all that pink, actually. It's clear with gold/green/yellow flakes in it. I don't see pink, but maybe it might show up in the daylight.

It really made for a beautiful combination! I imagine this NYX color would light up just about any color. If you can get your hands on this (where do they sell NYX, anyway? I don't think I've ever seen it in stores) I definitely recommend grabbing a bottle.

Back on the subject of Hautelook...here is the set of 4 NYX polished I received. I am in love with them all! I'm quite impressed with the uniqueness of their colors.

Koh Blue Universe French Mani - Flakies!

%^&@%!^$*)%&*^!!!! This color is sick!! It is called Blue Universe. It's a deep navy cream base with holographic coral micro glitter, and holographic coral flakies in it. I wish I had done the full nail, but for now I do really like this. It doesn't show up so well here, but the flakies have a pink/coral color to them, and they go really well with the pinkish nude color underneath. Next time I will give Koh a real chance to shine, and paint all my nails with this color. I will definitely be back for more colors by them. I absolutely love this swatch.

I also added an accent nail so you can see a better swatch of Blue Universe.

I am Under Elle's Spell!

This is a long-time want of mine, and I was able to trade with a wonderful lady over at makeupalley.

Now I know I said I wouldn't be swatching all that much for the next few days, but I already had red nail polish on, so i thought it wouldn't be cheating if I just throw a layer of Elle's Spell on top to see if it's worth all the fuss. News flash...it IS! It's so pretty and lights up in the sun. It's what I'd call the perfect swatch. No doubt, Erika you are going to LOVE this!

Does anybody else love Elle's Spell? Oh, and did you notice our new March banner?? We are going to change our banner every month because well, we feel like it lol. And it's fun!

This is swatched with just 1 layer of Elle's Spell over a candy apple red polish. I bet 2 or 3 would make this even neater.

You know you want to click me! Look at the close up!

Mail Days Make Bad Days Better

I really am having an awful/horrendous/wretched/etc...day. It's that bad lol.
But I just arrived home to a bin full of packages. 4 to be exact. I really got some goodies - is that TWO Elle's Spells you see? Yes it is! And one of them is for my dearie, Erika. (it's a surprise til she sees this post lol)

I had my second exchange through makeupalley.com, It was a breeze to arrange, and the sweetheart I had the pleasure to swap with sent me two lovely extras that I've never heard of! They're fabulous glitters and I can't wait to swatch them. I don't think they're from the US. I wonder where she got them!

And, to brighten my day even farther, my new friend from the nails forum at purseforum.com has informed me that I am getting a "RAOK" from a member there! I never got a RAOK before! (that's random act of kindness) I have NO idea who it's coming from, and I don't know what it's going to be. Needless to say, I am giddy with excitement!

Lastly, please excuse my lack of swatching lately, I really am just trying to give my cuticles a breather. Expect plenty more soonAdd Image
Here is some eye candy of my new polishes.

Sunday Manicures With The Ladies (Julie)

I brought my big old Caboodles full of polish (& then some) over to mom's today so we could do nails. Myself, my sister-in-law Tammy, and mom.

Tammy is a big Nfu-oh fan, mainly the flakies - so she used 2 coats of 056 on top of a pretty sparkly green by Confetti.

Mom likes pink, always has! So we did Razzle by OPI - and blinged out her ringfingers with Nfu-oh GS 04

And last, I am really on a red kick - so used my favorite Ulta red, and used OPI Shatter on my ringfinger, and a little jewel to top it off.
